The self-employed teacher (SET) is a mentorship program dedicated to teachers of English who are looking to develop their practice as independent professionals.
It is aimed at both novice and experienced teachers -- our focus will be on the exchange of experiences for collective learning.
Each month, we will meet and reflect upon one topic related to online teaching. Topics will range from the moment we talk to a new student to the different ways of assessing their progress. We will also address the business aspects of online teaching.
The SET is a continuous mentorship program. It aims to be a safe space for teachers to reflect upon their practices and learn how to improve their teaching and business skills.
We will have monthly sessions (one Saturday morning per month) on relevant topics for independent teachers with hands-on activities, plenary discussions, and reflection tasks.
You will also be sent weekly follow-up materials and discussion topics to keep you focused on the topic at hand.
When you register, you will be added to a platform in which materials will be posted, and where you can network with like-minded professionals.
The SET Sessions will take place on the second Saturday of every month, from 8:30 to 11:30, starting in August/2024.
A synchronous input session (which will be recorded live and made available to watch later)
