Eight carefully selected short stories over four months
Live discussions every two weeks
Vocabulary development and reading strategies
Literary concepts such as structure, narration, symbolism, voice and character
Cultural and historical context to enrich your reading
Materials prepared ahead of time to guide your reading and note-taking
A week before each session, you will receive:
the story/ stories (PDF or link);
a language guide with
information about the author;
historical context;
reading comprehension questions;
a short “circle reading” task.
- Start Dates: Feb 26 / 27 (1st term), Aug 27 / 28 (2nd term)

- Duration: 22 hours (preparation + live sessions) per semester
- Modality: flipped sessions (you read the story first, we discuss it later) via Zoom
- Materials: Materials are crafted and offered by the tutors, free of charge.

- To take part in this course, you need a computer or tablet (classes via cellphone are not allowed) and a webcam (not optional);
- This group is formed with a minimum of 4 students. If fewer than 4 students register, the group will not be formed. If the course starts and students stop taking classes along the way, leaving fewer than 4 students in the group, we reserve the right to terminate the course unless the students who are still present have their fees adjusted.

Anyone who reads in English and wants to be part of a thoughtful community
Live meetings will be recorded and made available for a month. That is, if you miss a meeting, you have until the following month to watch it.
BUT REMEMBER: The live meetings are NOT lectures; they are moments to exchange ideas.
Participants who complete the program will be given a certificate of conclusion in the total amount of hours (including off-meeting time) since their enrollment.
